KHI signs Gaughan and sponsor through 2009 Kevin Harvick Incorporated has announced that driver Brendan Gaughan will join the organization and run a partial schedule in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2008. Gaughan will bring family sponsorship in South Point Hotel & Casino, which will fund the entire 35-race season for the #77 team, replacing Dollar General. Gaughan currently drives for his family's team in the Craftsman Truck Series, but needed a ride due to the pending shutdown of the 3rd NASCAR series. Gaughan and KHI holdover Ron Hornaday Jr. will split the driving duties for the #77 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, although it is uncertain how many races each driver will have. "I'm very grateful to Kevin and DeLana Harvick for allowing me to continuing racing in NASCAR. As we all know, the lack of funding in the truck series has caused many teams and drivers to search for 2008 occupations elsewhere, so I am glad to have this giant monkey off my back this early in the season," said a grateful Gaughan. "Brendan has been a successful driver for many years in NASCAR, dating back to 2003 when he nearly captured the Truck Series championship. In our eyes, he is a championship-caliber performer and we are glad to bring him into the KHI family," said co-owner DeLana Harvick. (ESPN.com) (3/17/07).
