2008 Season Outlook
It's hard to believe that a 3rd place points finish along with a Daytona 500 victory could leave a team as overlooked within an organization, but that's exactly what happened with the #2 team in 2008. With teammate Ryan Newman winning the championship and both of Casey Mears's wins coming in the first 5 races, the #2 was slightly overlooked. But with two consecutive top 6 points finishes, analysts are not going to bypass the #2 team this season. Mears has transformed himself from a mid-pack Ganassi driver to a Penske championship contender, and it'd be very shocking if the #2 didn't at least qualify for the Chase and post a couple of wins.
