2008 Season Outlook
You can't talk about slumps without mentioning Matt Kenseth's 2007 season. After a blazing hot start with 3 early victories, it looked like Kenseth was headed for his 4th consecutive Chase berth and 6th consecutive top 10 points finish. But all of a sudden, the wheels fell of the track, having run over possibly the worst patch of bad luck anyone in the sport had ever seen. In the final 24 races of the season, he posted as many finishes of 30th or worse as he did of top 20 finishes, with nearly twice as many crash-related DNFs as top 10 finishes. He even had a stretch at the beginning of the Chase where he finished 27th worse in 5 of 6 races. He did end on a good note, however, finishing with 4 straight top 20s. It's practically impossible for Kenseth to have so much bad luck and match his career worst 19th place points finish. It's much more likely that Kenseth will get back in the Chase and regularly contend for top 10s again.
