2008 Season Outlook
MB2 Motorsports opens up a third team in 2008 for Regan Smith to run 3 races. Smith will be running full-time in the Nationwide Series for MB2, but has the U.S. Army as his sponsor, which is also a Cup sponsor for Joe Nemechek. Team owner Nelson Bowers will be having Smith run the first 3 plate races of 2008 in an attempt to have Smith steal a top 5 or even a win and gain attraction from sponsors in order to prepare him for a Cup seat in 2009 or 2010. MB2 has decent equipment, and Nemechek has wins the past couple of season, but predominantly on short tracks. But, Slugger Labbe has joined MB2 as crew chief for Nemechek and should improve the team's plate track package, so Smith has the potential to steal a decent finish. But with all rookies on plate tracks, don't expect much, as veterans will be wary of drafting with an inexperienced driver.
