2008 Season Outlook
After having run full time for quite a long time, the Chip Ganassi-owned #40 drops to part-time status in 2008, though not due to funding. David Stremme drove it in 2007 and even pulled off a stunning upset victory at Daytona, but didn't keep the #40 inside the top 35 in owner points. Sponsor Coors Light was unhappy, and Ganassi formed a partnership with Robby Gordon Motorsports where Coors Light now sponsors Gordon's #7 Toyota. With no owner points and #41 driver Reed Sorenson departing, Ganassi shifted Stremme over to the #41 and will now only run the #40 at the road courses with Scott Pruett. Pruett is a road course ace and as recently as 2005 posted a top 5 finish in the Cup Series. With CGR struggling to keep up, however, don't expect Pruett to contend for a top 5 in 2008.
