2008 Season Outlook
Juan Montoya will finally become a full-time Rookie contender in the Sprint Cup Series in 2008, taking over the seat of the #42 from Jamie McMurray. He's run 5 races over the past 2 years with little success, but has shown promise in the Nationwide Series that has fans optimistic for 2008. The #42 had success in 2003 and 2004 with McMurray, narrowly missing the Chase in '04. But since then, it has floundered with the other CGR teams. With NASCAR switching to the COT in 2008, the playing field should be more equalized, but there's no doubt that CGR will be playing catchup at the start of the season, especially with a rookie driver. However, Montoya is a fierce competitor, and while he will probably get into a scuffle or two due to his temper, his drive to succeed is unmatched and that alone should keep the #42 relevant in 2008.
