NASCAR announced today that the #38 Robert Yates Racing team was found to have an unapproved rear suspension part during post-race inspection after the Checker Auto Parts 500. The result is the loss of 25 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series championship driver points for Elliott Sadler and the loss of 25 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series championship owner points for Robert Yates. The team was in violation of Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and Section 12-4-Q (Any determination by NASCAR Officials that parts and/or equipment in the Event do not conform to NASCAR rules) of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Rule Book.(NASCAR PR)(10/16/07).
