BREAKING NEWS
A horrific accident occurred in the 28th race of the year at Dover International Raceway. On lap 11, Kevin Iannarelli, driver of the #170 Sierra Pontiac, exited out of the pits and inadvertently moved in front of Steve Myers, driver the #127 Clip-Em Lawn Service Chevrolet, who was battling for the lead. Myers runs into the rear of Iannarelli and both cars crash. Later on, more chaos ensued. John Beatty, driver of the #121 Xoron Dodge, slams Iannarelli's driver side and Iannarelli's car does a somersault in air. In addition, Jack Salerno's car flipped in the crash. In all, 13 of the 28 drivers were involved in the crash and were forced to retire from the race. Kevin Iannarelli, who is now 7th in the championship standings, will miss the remainder of the 2003 season and part of the 2004 season after suffering a broken ankle torn ACL in the crash. As a result, rookie driver Thomas Brown will pilot the #170 Papyrus Racing Pontiac for the remaining races. John Beatty, who is 11th in the championship standings, suffered a concussion and will miss the next 3 races on the schedule. Immediately following the annoucement of John Beatty's injury, Xoron Racing announced that relief driver Tyrone Moss will drive the #121 car until Martinsville.
Video of the accident will be posted soon.
