2008 Season Outlook
Perhaps the luckiest man in the McGlynn-Vance Racing Ventures merger was David Starr. Starr went from decent Truck Series driver to Rookie of the Year competitor in the Sprint Cup Series seemingly overnight. Starr has no Cup experience, but will have full funding beneath him as Fastenal continued their service to the Hamilton family and extended NASCAR family. Starr inherits Derrike Cope's old ride, so it knows how to get to the front at the plate tracks at a minimum. But with Starr's inexperience and this team's new status, fans' expectations should be tempered. It would be a huge accomplishment if Starr qualified for 20 races.
