2008 Season Outlook
The #97 returns for Jack Roush in 2008 as David Ragan will run for Rookie of the Year after a promising part-time slate in 2007. Ragan actually began his Cup career in 2006 with 7 races, but performed poorly and missed his opportunity at taking over the reigns for the #6 car full-time this past season. But with 7 chances with the #06 team, Ragan capatalized, earning 1 top 5 and 3 top 10 finishes. That remarkable improvement from one year to the next suggests that Ragan could have a big rookie year. But with the high level of competition, the transition the COT, and Roush's downswing to end 2007, it's tough to say that Ragan will do all that well. He certainly will do better than Todd Kluever's dismal rookie season, but a Chase berth in the meantime seems a little too optimistic.
