2008 Season Outlook
For Wayne Day's part-time single-car NNS team, 2008 marks a season of opportunity. As one of just 2 teams that has declared intentions to field Honda Accords beginning in 2009, Day's team will be getting increased funding for R&D. While it won't be directed towards the Chevrolet Impala cars and engines being run this season, the overall increase in financial health of the organization will help the team focus on making its racecars fast, rather than staying afloat. The other part of the opportunity rests in the drivers' hands. Aside from reclamation project Shawn Robinson, none of the 5 drivers running in the #05 has ever completed a full season. Justin Ashburn is the second-most experienced driver and has just 26 starts across 5 year. Brett Rowe, John Borneman III, and Jeremy Clements all have fewer than 10 career starts. With such high inexperience levels, expectations must be low for the #05 team. But then again, maybe the freshness and drive to succeed could see this team surprise a few.
