The field has finished qualifying for the 4th race of the season the Mountain Dew 200 at the Hickory Motor Speedway.
Jack Ingram won the pole, with a time of 18.676 seconds, beating Tommy Ellis by 0.146 seconds.
Other Noticeables: Jack Ingram won his 1st pole of the year, Ingram won his 9th career pole in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series and his first since 1983 also Hickory; 26 races ago, Tommy Ellis, the winner of this event one year ago, will be starting 2nd, Tommy Houston, who will start 7th, has a 47 point lead over Sam Ard

Ingram and Ellis start 1-2 here even though they started 3rd and 1st respectively in the real race.

Race #4 - Mountain Dew 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 4th stop of the 1984 season in Hickory, North Carolina, the site of the Hickory Motor Speedway for the Mountain Dew 200.
Jack Ingram led the field to the Green Flag and would lead the first twenty-three laps as the short 0.363 mile track turned out to be the calmest race of the season so far. Jack Ingram would lose the lead to Tommy Ellis as both drivers would swap the lead until Ellis would fall out due to mechanical problems. Sam Ard would become the new race leader and was looking to win back-to-back events, but it would be Tommy Houston, who eight days earlier would lose to Ard in the closest finish in the history of the series, came into Hickory with redemption, and would take the lead with less then forty laps to go and would go on to score his first win of 1984.
Other Noticeables: Tommy Houston scored his 1st win of the year, Houston led 3 times for 37 laps, including the final 35 laps, It was the 7th win of his career in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series and his first since 1983 at Bristol; 29 races ago, Tommy Houston, who finished 1st, kept his points lead, leading Sam Ard by 57 points

In reality both Houston and Ard finished behind Jack Ingram, who finished 5th here.

Dale Jarrett won the pole, with a time of 25.761 seconds, beating Elton Sawyer by 0.097 seconds.

Race #5 - Miller Time 250
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 5th stop of the 1984 season in Martinsville, Virginia, the site of the Martinsville Speedway for the Miller Time 250.
Dale Jarrett led the field to the Green Flag and would quickly begin to once again show that Martinsville was his house, as Jarrett had won the last Martinsville event by leading all but five laps. With only three cautions during the race, drivers didn't have much time to adjust their cars as Jarrett led more then half the event but a late caution changed the complexion of the race. Charlie Luck, who had started 3rd and remained in the Top 5 all day, took advantage of the restart and was able to hold off Jack Ingram and Dale Jarrett to score his first ever win in NASCAR.
Other Noticeables: Charlie Luck scored his 1st win of the year, Luck led 1 times for 74 laps, including the final 74 laps, It was the 1st win of his career in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series in his 37th start, Ed Berrier(16th) and Jackie Carithers(17th) made their NASCAR Busch Grand National Series debuts, Tommy Houston, who finished 18th, kept his points lead, leading Sam Ard by 6 points
