The newly renamed NASCAR Busch Grand National Series started it's third season with the 1st stop of the season in Daytona Beach, Florida, the site of the Daytona International Speedway for the Goody's 300.
Geoffrey Bodine led the field to the Green Flag but it would be L.D. Ottinger who would lead the first six laps as NASCAR's secondary series started of their third season in a big way as the second lap a "big one" would strike taking out the defending series champion out after only two laps. Less then twenty laps later a second "big one" would strike and this time be more affective as only twelve cars were left after only thirty laps had been completed. With much of the field gone Darrell Waltrip would dominate the day leading 58 of the 120 laps but would be in a race long duel with Neil Bonnett, a battle Waltrip would win to score his second straight win at Daytona.

Oreius my friend, you seem to be on a roll of sorts, as Darrell Waltrip also won this race in real life.
Your copy of NR2003 seems to be developing a knack for getting real-life winners and/or polesitters right.

The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 2nd stop of the 1984 season in Richmond, Virginia, the site of the Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway for the Wrangler 150.
Sam Ard led the field to the Green Flag and would lead the first 18 laps as the tricky short track in Richmond was a pretty calm affair for much of the early half. Dale Earnhardt would take the lead just before lap twenty and from that point on he was challenged by Ard, Jack Ingram, Tommy Houston and Dale Jarrett for the rest of the race as six cautions would allow drivers shots at the lead, but Earnhardt played defense for the final twenty five laps and was able to score the win.

Ard won the pole for the real race...and he won the real race while he was at it. Can he do the same here?

Race #3 - Komfort Koach 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 3rd stop of the 1984 season in Rockingham, North Carolina, the site of the North Carolina Motor Speedway for the Komfort Koach 200.
Sam Ard led the field to the Green Flag and would lead the first lap as for the second year in a row the North Carolina Speedway gave the fans in attendance a great show as wrecks, lead changes and an exciting finish led many to say this was one of the greatest races in the three year history of the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series L.D. Ottinger would lead much of the event but was shuffled back due to lap traffic allowing Tommy Houston to take over. One year earlier, Houston led 53 of the 147 laps only to hit the wall late in the race and hand the win to Dale Earnhardt.
With Earnhardt not appearing at North Carolina, Houston took the lead late from Davey Allison and appeared on his way to redemption. However a caution with less then ten laps to go set up a shootout finish as Sam Ard, who had only led the first lap earlier in the race, passed Houston just before the finish line, scoring his first win of 1984 as well as breaking the record of the closest margin of victory in the series history by one thousand of a second.
