Race #44 - Old Dominion 500
It was a clear day in Martinsville, Virginia as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 44th stop of the 1956 season at the Martinsville Speedway for the Old Dominion 500.
Allen Adkins led the field to the Green Flag as for the first time drivers raced at the half mile track in Virginia. Adkins would quickly begin to build up nearly a five second lead before fuel pump problems caused him to run out of fuel on Lap 94, handing the lead over to points leader Bob Welborn. Welborn would lead before Larry Frank took over and would lead until Adkins took the lead back on Lap 179. From that point on, Adkins would dominate, losing it to Frank and Jimmy Massey before taking it back and would lead 332 of the 500 laps, and scored his first career win.

Race #45
It was a clear day in Spartanburg, South Carolina as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 45th stop of the 1956 season at the Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds.
Joe Weatherly led the field to the Green Flag in front of a disappointing crowd of only 2,950 people were in attendance. Curtis Turner would pass his team mate and lead the first lap before Weatherly took it back, pulling away to lead the first hundred laps before Turner got back around his teammate before Jimmie Lewallen spoiled the Pete DePaolo party as he would be the only other driver to lead. Weatherly's car faded in the last hundred laps as Turner and Lewallen swapped the lead two times, with Turner coming out on top, taking the lead with twenty four laps to go and would hold him off for his 17th win of 1956.

Race #46
It was a clear day in Weaverville, North Carolina as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 46th stop of the 1956 season at the Asheville-Weaverville Speedway.
Curtis Turner led the field to the Green Flag in front of a crowd of 4,500 people were in attendance, but it was Glen Wood who would get a run down the backstretch who would lead the first lap before Turner took it back for three laps before Wood worked his way back around Turner. Drivers raced around the half mile dirt track, dealing with slipper conditions coming off of Turn 4 as drivers would slide sideways out of the turn, nearly leading to what could have been many wrecks, however drivers were able to main control, atleast for the first half of the race.
An early race caution gave the lead back to Turner, and just like he had done many times before in 1956, once in the lead, he was unstoppable, keeping all challengers behind him, building up almost a full lead on the field, when chaos broke out on Lap 181, nineteen laps to go, as finally someone lost control coming off Turn 4, Larry Frank spun out in front of points leader Bob Welborn, seconds before eighteen other drivers piled into the wreck as leader Curtis Turner was the only car not damaged, as soon all twenty that had been involved was retired from the event, NASCAR officials had no choice but to shorten the race, giving the win to Turner.

Race #47
It was a cloudy day in Hillsborough, North Carolina as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 47th and final stop of the 1956 season at the Orange Speedway.
Curtis Turner led the field to the Green Flag in front of a crowd of 3,500 as the championship had already been decided before the race even began, but pride and bragging rights were still up for grabs as nineteen drivers took the green flag in the final race of the season. Turner quickly began to do much like he had done for much of the 1956 season, once out front he was untouchable, jumping to a five second lead by lap twenty. Even during pit stops, Turner didn't lose the lead, but after they were over, Turner was slowed by lap traffic, allowing for his fellow Pete DePaolo teammate Joe Weatherly to cut into a six second lead with less then ten laps to go, and was right on Turner's back bumper when the white flag flew, but Turner was able to hold on by three car lengths, to score his record 19th win of the season.
