1991 Peak AntiFreeze 500 Tim Richmond started on the pole of another chaotic race at the Monster Mile. With Ricky Rudd parked for the rest of the season, PCR breathed a sigh of relief, and all three were running at the end: Belle Johnson finished fourth, Katie Sammonds finished fifth, and Andy Sammonds finished 13th, one lap down. The winner was none other than Kelly Walker, who had replaced Rick Mast after the latter was killed in the Daytona 500. After the race, Andy Sammonds unsurprisingly regained the points lead, while Katie Sammonds entered tenth. Next stop: Martinsville.

1991 Goody's 500 Darrell Waltrip started on the pole of yet another chaotic Martinsville race. Andy Sammonds and Belle Johnson both failed to finish, while Katie Sammonds was off the lead lap at one point, before charging HARD to get the win. Alas, Dale Earnhardt held her off. In the points, Andy Sammonds now has a new contender to worry about: defending champion Mark Martin, who has moved into second while Belle has fallen to fourth (and Ricky Rudd, despite being parked, holds third). Katie, meanwhile, has moved up to eighth. Next stop: North Wilkesboro.

1991 Tyson Holly Farms 400 Andy Sammonds started on the pole of another short track doozy. A race of attrition, it was sink-or-swim as the drivers navigated this unique short track. While Andy had a bad day after leading early, and Katie was relegated off the lead lap, Belle Johnson was able to hold off Mark Martin for her fourth win of the season. Martin is now six points off of Andy Sammonds, while Belle is lurking behind in third. Next stop: Charlotte.

Richard Petty Announces Retirement Richard Petty has announced that 1992 will be his final season in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Dubbed the "Fan Appreciation Tour", Petty said won't call it a farewell tour as he isn't going anywhere, due to being a car owner. No replacement for the 43 car has been announced yet.

1991 Mello Yello 500 Sterling Marlin started on the pole. This was a race that tested the lead lap drivers' ability to navigate a sea of lap traffic. It was relatively clean aside from an early six-car pile-up. PCR had a fantastic day. While Katie Sammonds was involved in the aforementioned wreck, Andy Sammonds and Belle Johnson outlasted Mark Martin for a 1-2 finish. In points, Andy widened his lead over Martin, while Belle caught up. Next stop: San Jose (hoo boy...).

1991 Silicon Valley 500 San Jose Superspeedway is known for three things: its narrow track surface, its banked pit road exit, and its reputation for chewing drivers up and spitting them out in horrific crashes. And that's just what happened. It's time to play "How The F*ck Did That Happen?!" I present to you the craziest crash I have ever seen: And here's a pile-up: Neil Bonnett was uninjured after he and Ken Schrader hit the inside wall on the backstretch in juuuust the wrong spot, but Brett Bodine was critically injured after hitting a wall at the exit of pit road at an extremely high rate of speed. He has been listed in stable condition, but its basically ended his season. Todd Bodine, the youngest of the Bodine brothers, will drive the 26 for the rest of the season. This was yet again a survival-of-the-fittest race. This time, nine cars finished instead of five, and at the end, it was a heated battle between the only two lead lap cars: Jimmy Means and Chad Little, neither of whom had ever won. In the end, Little was able to use Joe Ruttman as a pick to take his first career win in an incredible upset. The points battle has become extremely tight. Belle Johnson has taken the lead, with Mark Martin behind by one point, and Andy Sammonds by five. This is gonna be interesting... Following the race, NASCAR and track officials agreed to keep the track off the 1992 schedule while severe reconfiguration was carried out. The earliest it could return is 1995. Next stop: North Carolina.

Rudd and Gant parked for the rest of the season?!
And people said that NASCAR was too harsh on Truex by kicking him outta the Chase amid Spingate! Not that I'm complaning about the decision or anything, but I just had to bring that up.

1991 AC Delco 500 Darrell Waltrip started on the pole for another long, arduous race at the Rock. The first caution of the day came after a rather severe crash: Katie Sammonds hooked Geoff Bodine in the right rear quarter panel, collecting Belle Johnson and sending Sammonds flipping. Both Sammonds and Johnson were taken out. Andy Sammonds also DNF'd with a clutch issue. In the end, Dale Earnhardt took the checkers. With both Andy Sammonds and Johnson failing to finish, and Mark Martin finishing (albeit off the lead lap), Martin has taken a 105-point lead over Sammonds. Will Martin defend his championship? Will Andy win his second championship? Will Belle continue the tradition of PCR drivers winning the championship in their rookie season? Time will tell. Next stop: Coca-Cola.

1991 Sprite 500 Geoffrey Bodine started on pole. Another interesting chess game at Coca-Cola Superspeeway, the race was relatively clean with only a few crashes. The closing laps were very dramatic, with Dave Marcis, Dennis Malone, and Richard Petty in contention for the win. Ultimately, Malone took the win, with Petty close behind. Andy Sammonds finished ahead of Mark Martin, but Belle Johnson finished ahead of both of them. Johnson is now 105 points behind in second, while Sammonds fell to third. Next stop: Phoenix.

1991 Pyroil 500K Andy Sammonds started on the pole of NASCARs fourth visit to the high desert of Arizona. A relatively clean race, Andy Sammonds dominated early before he was put off the lead lap during the first caution period. Even then, he managed to get back on the lead lap for a sixth-place finish. In the final laps, Terry Labonte passed Kelly Walker to get his first win of the season. Mark Martin failed to finish, and Sammonds has cut his points deficit down to 14. Belle Johnson, meanwhile, also failed to finish, effectively putting her out of contention. Next stop: Riverside.
