Dick Linder won the pole with a time of 26.547 seconds, beating Lloyd Moore by 0.082 seconds.

Linder started...not on pole...in the real race, while Chuck Mahoney was on pole.

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 6th stop of 1950 in Vernon, New York at the Vernon Fairgrounds.
Dick Linder led the field to the green for the second race in a row but it would be Art Lamey who would make a three wide pass in Turn 2 and would go on to lead the first laps as the tricky half mile track was a struggle for several drivers as many had problems with Turn 1 as multiple cautions would fly with drivers spinning out. Bill Blair would take over the lead early but would have a race long battle with Lamey as they would swap it five times during the event before Blair took it with less then fifty laps to go and from there on he was untouchable as he would go on to score the first win of his career.
Other Noticeables: Bill Blair scored his 1st win of the year, Blair led 3 times for 123 laps, including the final 48 laps, It was the 1st win of his career in the NASCAR Grand National Series in his 12th start, Art Lamey(4th), Ken Warmington(11th), Bill Bonner(12th), Ann Chester(14th), Art Hammond(16th), Harry Sents(17th), Neil Cole(18th), Harland Holmes(21st) and Gene Austin(22nd) made their NASCAR Grand National Series debuts, Curtis Turner, who wasn't entered in this event, kept his points lead, leading Bill Rexford by 118 points

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 7th stop of 1950 in Dayton, Ohio at the Dayton Speedway.
Lloyd Moore led the field to the green and would lead the first five laps as the half mile track proved to be a struggle for many drivers as six cautions for fly during the day while battles for the lead happened quite alot as well as three "big ones" would cut the field from 25 to 14 by Lap 138. Points leader Curtis Turner would lead much of the event but Dick Linder was leading late before he was passed by both Duane Carter and Art Lamey, who would both lead briefly before Jimmy Florian moved into the lead with forty nine laps to go. Thanks to lap traffic, Florian was able to keep Turner behind him for the remaining laps and would go on to score his first career NASCAR win.
Other Noticeables: Jimmy Florian scored his 1st win of the year, Florian led 2 times for 58 laps, including the final 49 laps, It was the 1st win of his career in the NASCAR Grand National Series in his 4th start, Buck Barr(4th), Duane Carter(5th), George Hartley(6th), F.L.
