The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 17th stop of 1950 in Martinsville, Virginia at the Martinsville Speedway.
A crowd of 6,700 fans were in attendance as NASCAR raced for at the half mile track for the third time in series history as Jimmy Thompson would lead the first ten laps before he was passed by Lee Petty who quickly began to build up a impressive lead, keeping all challengers behind him until finally losing the lead during a round of pit stops to Fonty Flock before Petty took it back and would lead until with less then seventy laps to go when Buck Baker took over. Once in the lead, Baker also built up a lead as well and with one lap to go, Petty was forced to pit due to running out of gas, allowing for Herb Thomas to move up to second, but it was Baker who would score his first career win.
Other Noticeables: Buck Baker scored his 1st win of the year, Baker led 1 time for 65 laps, which were the final 65 laps, It was the 1st win of his career in the NASCAR Grand National Series in his 10th start, Jack Holloway(3rd), John Manning(11th) and Runt Harris(20th) made their NASCAR Grand National Series debuts, Bill Rexford, who wasn't entered in this event, kept his points lead, leading Curtis Turner by 353 points

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 18th stop of 1950 in Winchester, Indiana at the Winchester Speedway.
A crowd of 5,000 fans were in attendance as NASCAR raced for at the half mile track for the first time in series history as Carl Renner would jump out to a big lead early on as only thirteen cars were entered in the race, as most drivers chose to race at Martinsville earlier in the day. Renner would lead the first 119 laps, losing the lead to Leo Caldwell briefly during the lone caution of the day, as Buck Barr would assume the lead due to a fast pit stop. Barr would lose the lead to Leo Caldwell on Lap 132, but regained it one lap later, and from that point on Barr was unstoppable, leading the final 68 laps to score his first career win.
Meanwhile, finishing 4th, was points leader Bill Rexford, who left Winchester with a 493 point lead, and due to a maximum 275 points to be rewarded in the last round at Hillsborough, it's mathematically impossible for any driver to pass Rexford, so your 1950 NASCAR Grand National Series Champion is Bill Rexford.

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 19th and final stop of 1950 in Hillsborough, North Carolina at the Occoneechee Speedway.
A crowd of 11,000 fans were in attendance for the final race of the season as NASCAR raced at the mile track for the third time in series history, with Bill Blair leading the field to the green flag, but it was Jim Delaney who would get a run on the outside and would lead the first laps and would dominate the first half of the event before Lee Petty would work his way up from 8th and would take the lead for the first time on Lap 39 before losing it back to Delaney as a early caution would keep the field close. Delaney would keep the lead for a few more laps before being forced to pit due to a flat tire, handing the lead over to Petty.
Petty would pull away from the field over time, with a lead getting as big as nearly twenty seconds, but would lose half of it over the final twenty laps due to lap traffic as officials decided to cut the length of the race down to 175 laps due to darkness, as Petty easily scored the win.
Other Noticeables: Lee Petty scored his 1st win of the year, Petty led 3 times for 109 laps, including the final 100 laps, It was the 2nd win of his career in the NASCAR Grand National Series and his first since 1949 at Heidelberg; 20 races ago, Tommy Melvin(16th), Coleman Grant(18th) and Jimmy Ayers(20th) made their NASCAR Grand National Series debuts, Bill Rexford, who finished 17th, is the 1950 NASCAR Grand National Series Champion
