This race sees a major shakeup in the standings. Both Robby Gordon Motorsports cars have qualified in the top 3, while Hendrick ringer Adrian Fernandez puts the #5 in the top 5. Jamie McMurray qualifies the 2nd Ganassi Dodge in the top 10. Robert Yates Racing, Curb Agajanian, and DCT's hopes of making the top 30 continue to dwindle. Scott Gaylord ALMOST gave Jimmy Means his first start of the year, while Johnny Sauter luckily can rely on the owners points rented from Jay Robinson, and hopefully they can get a decent result. The last qualifying news is Kim Crosby and Shawna Robinson make their first starts of the year.
Other rumors circulating around have NEMCO Motorsports looking at selling off their owners points. The team rumored to obtain them is GIC-Mixon Motorsports, who has struggled to qualify for races with Rookie Kim Crosby. This deal would see GIC-Mixon obtain the #7 and the owners points associated. GIC Also has been looking at a veteran driver to pilot the #7 if the deal goes through, to help evaluate the team and try and keep them inside the top 30. Kim Crosby and the #24 would continue to operate on a part time basis.

Here is the weekly news roundup
James Ince has left the #66 team, after 3 straight DNQ's in the first 3 races, posting his frustrations with the team. Ince said, "I honestly don't know what we are doing wrong, but it clearly ain't working. Things are not as stable as I feel they should be, and as such, I will look toward greener pastures"
Stanton Barrett and FRM have picked up a sponsor for both Atlanta and Bristol, as US MIlitary.org comes aboard as a primary for both races.
Gary Keller Motorsports, who ran the #35 last year, plans to attempt their first race of the year at Phoenix International Speedway. Kenny Hendrick(No relation to HMS owner Rick) will drive the car.
Hover Motorsports have announced their next races, as Mario Gosselin will attempt Bristol and Martinsville, while Andy Belmont will attempt the Coke 600 in May.
SWAT Fitness Racing was notably absent at Vegas. The team relaesed a statement earlier this week stating, "We have not been achiving the results we want, and as such, will fall back and regroup, and will return at Texas.
And some Busch news
After 2 DNQ's in the first 4 races, Paul Wolfe has been demoted to part time status, and will be replaced by, Jeremy Mayfield, and Kasey Kahne, and Bill Elliott. This change was instituted as Evernham Motorsports #6 team is outside the top 30 in owner spoints going into the 5th race of the season, the last before the current top 30 get locked in. Ray Evernham said in an interview ,"We have not been achiving the results we have wanted to, and our sponsors are getting antsy, so this change is one that has to happen. No Disrespect to Paul Wolfe, he has done his best, and will return to the car for a few races at a later date, but right now, we need results."
