Tim Dykman would lead the field to the green and would quickly build up a lead until the first caution came out, handing the lead over to Kevin Lepage. Meanwhile, working his way up through the field was Mike Barry, cutting down the lead and would soon take the lead with twenty two laps to go. Much like he had done at Claremont one week earlier, Barry would assume the lead late and held off championship contender Bobby Dragon, to score his second straight win in 1980.
