Officials and teams of the Super Truck Short Track Series came to Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, North Carolina Tuesday afternoon to conduct a mock weekend competition test, which included two practice sessions, a qualifying session, and a 50 lap race. Drivers and teams were told to treat the events as if it were a real situation. Tuesday evening, the first practice session saw young Bobby Ricky (who insists he's not Ricky Bobby in disguise) set the fast time before spinning in turn one and smashing the wall. The team brought a second truck to the track Wednesday morning that was not yet prepared to be seen by the public, being a solid white truck with just numbers and a hood decal.
Wednesday morning, during the second practice, Bobby Ricky was fastest again! With rain clouds moving in (and only three teams at the track), officials decided to cut qualifying and base the three truck field based on final practice speeds. When night time came around, the rain came down without mercy, pushing the start of the mock race to Thursday morning.
With the four tenths of a mile track dried, but rain still threatening the area, trucks rolled out onto the starting grid. Bobby Ricky and Alikz Ahlbrand led the front row, with Brendan Gorman trailing.
The green flag flew and the 77 of Ahlbrand was immediately in the back. Brendan Gorman filled the bottom lane, forcing Ahlbrand to the rear. It appeared that the 77 was off pace, while the 80 of Gorman gave the 62 all he could give, with no avail.
Lap nineteen saw the most action. Gorman's truck had fallen off from fighting the 62 as hard as he was, and it wasn't long before Ahlbrand caught him. Entering turn three, Ahlbrand stuck his nose inside and made contact with Gorman, forcing him up the track and back into third.
Meanwhile, the show belonged to Bobby Ricky, who ran a comfortable pace and never used up his truck. His strategy was to be really easy in the corner, and get a great run off. This proved to be the key to his dominance.
With five laps to go, Ahlbrand made his final run at Ricky. He got it down to two car lengths by running the same line as the 62, but once he tried to make the pass, it was all for nothing as he slid back another three car lengths.
With a dominant run and definitely the best truck(s) that were brought to the track, Bobby Ricky won the mock race, with Ahlbrand finishing .8 seconds behind, and Gorman, who was more than two seconds behind.
Series officials said there would be another mock weekend in a couple weeks, which will go hand in hand with the schedule release. More teams are expected to show up.

Bobby Ricky victory lane interview:
Generic Reporter: Bobby, how about this? Your first career NR2003 offline league race and your first win all in one day! How does this feel? Bobby Ricky: Lemme tell ya, this is the closest that I'll likely be to NR2003 unless eBay and/or Amazon sellers start making cheaper requests for cash, and standing here in victory lane after all that domination...this just feels good. Generic Reporter: Also, are you aware that people are comparing you to Ricky Bobby, the greatest fictional NASCAR driver that isn't Cole Trickle? Bobby Ricky: Who started that? Well, whoever it was, I swear to God that I have no relation to Ricky Bobby or any of Will Ferrell's other alter egos. But you'd be lying if you said that I didn't drive like Ricky Bobby these past couple days. Generic Reporter: Anything else you'd like to say? Bobby Ricky: Six words: If you ain't first, you're last!

Also, are you aware that people are comparing you to Ricky Bobby, the greatest fictional NASCAR driver that isn't Cole Trickle? I lost it right there XD Yeah, Talladega Nights may be my favorite movie ever (where did you think I got my username from?), but Days of Thunder has it beaten...but only by a couple inches. And another thing about the comparisons: "Bobby Ricky" is just my alias for the series and forums, and NOT my real name. But I'm sure you guys already knew that. To those wondering why I'm not using my real name for this series, it's because this was the perfect opportunity to see if "Bobby Ricky" can be as successful as "Ricky Bobby" was.

Brendan Gorman post-race quote: "That was really fun. Even though we had just 3 trucks out on track, I think we were able to gather a lot of data for when we're in traffic and when we're in clean air. I really learned a lot about driving these things too. I totally used up my tires and by the end of the race I was a moving obstacle. I don't blame Alikz for punting me out of his way, I was holding him up and may have cost him a shot at getting up there to Ricky. At the end of the day finishing last doesn't bother me too much because today was all about gathering data which I think we did a great job of so I'm happy."

Sorry this has been inactive for a couple weeks, some really unfortunate stuff happened in real life and I needed to put my attention there. There will be another test race on Wednesday, I'd like for people that owe me a flat to please get it in by then.
Thanks guys.

Since the little girl running that welfare site that does nothing but bitch about everyone else's sim racing sites, I guess I'll explain how I "spend all (my) time in an offline league on free forums dot net." The reason this has been inactive for the last couple weeks is because I've been volunteering ten hours of my day at an animal shelter. I run this on my free time. I don't sit here and wank off all day waiting for a reply. The unfortunate circumstances that I was referring to in my previous post dealt with the issues between my dad and his ex wife, and I had to stay at a friend's house for a week due to the constant fighting in the house. But what I do with my time is up to me. DMCAToad, talk all the shit you want, but I'm going to do what I want with my time. You can gladly go fuck off.
Thank you Brendan for hosting this site and doing all you do for the community. Some people just don't appreciate anything.
