The first offical race of the 2012 season as the Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway as 42 drivers looked to scored a win in the Superbowl of racing.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. led the field to the green flag, but it was Roush Fenway Racing driver Matt Kenseth leading the event's first 11 laps as several big ones would take out major names like Jamie McMurray, Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.
Much of the race would be a three car battle between Earnhardt Jr., Greg Biffle and Paul Menard as they would swap the lead nearly every lap, before Biffle and Earnhardt Jr. pulled away in the final laps it looked as if Biffle would score the win. However he made his move one lap too early, allowing Jr. to draft back by and score the win.
Other Noticeables: Dale Earnhardt Jr. scored his first win of the year, Earnhardt Jr. led 22 times for 77 laps, including the final lap, It was the 19th win of his career and his first since Michigan 2008, 130 races ago.

The second race of the 2012 season as the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at the Phoenix International Raceway.
Denny Hamlin led the field to the green flag, but it was Brad Keselowski who led the event's first 20 laps. Much of the race would be run side by side with drivers slipping and sliding over the slick track as Clint Bowyer found out on Lap 1.
During the race, seven drivers would drop out due to problems to their cars as Martin Truex Jr. would survive a tough day and would score a run-away victory.

Race #3 - Kobalt Tools 400
The third race of the 2012 season was the Kobalt Tools 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Jamie McMurray led the field to the Green Flag, but it was Greg Biffle leading the first three laps. Trouble struck early as the first caution would come out on Lap two when Dave Blaney and Brendan Gaughan spinning in Turn 1. As drivers made their early pitstops, David Ragan retired due to a broken Gearbox. Many accidents would come out, including a scary one when Paul Menard flipped and the team could not contact Menard. It turned out Menard's wreck had knocked his radio box off the top of his car, Menard would be fine.
As drivers would swap the lead, wrecks took out alot of drivers, Jeff Gordon seemed to be having a problem with Penske Racing, first spinning out Brad Keselowski then A.J. Allmendinger. "I have no clue what he (Gordon) is doing out there, we have never had an issue with him."
Carl Edwards would work his way to the lead and led almost 100 laps, but a late race accident ruined his chances as Jimmie Johnson, one of the cars that didn't have any damage, would pull away and score a lackluster win.
Other Noticeables: Jimmie Johnson scored his first win of the year, Johnson led 7 times for 84 laps, including the final 64 laps, It was the 56th win of his career and his first since Kansas last year, 10 races ago, Bobby Labonte continues to make the JTG-Daugherty Racing team proud by getting his third straight Top 10 finish, Ken Schrader, making his first start in 2012, did a great job and finished in 7th; it was his first Top 10 since Richmond in 2006, Dale Earnhardt Jr., who finished 18th, kept his points lead, now 2 points over Bobby Labonte
