Lap 65/200: Danny Onagis, who was the leader of the race, pulls to the grass in an effort to get to pit road. The unscheduled stop puts him in 25th, one lap down.

Lap 81/200: Three-time Indy 500 Champion Pat Flaherty makes a strategy call to take the lead after green flag pit stops.

Lap 101/200: Kinser holds a second lead on Flaherty. Both are safely ahead of Jack Fadden, who easily had the best car before pit stops and now runs third.

Lap 122/200: Jack Fadden and Pat Flaherty battle for the lead. *Fun Fact* These two drivers, between them, have won nearly 30% of the Indy 500's ever held (From 1961-1981). Also, early race leader Danny Onagis is up to fifth after the unscheduled pit stop that put him a lap down.

Lap 141/200: Jack Fadden continues to lead, but Flaherty has stayed within a car-length of the #1 car (Fadden) for the last twenty laps. Flaherty may try to use lap traffic as a pick to get the lead.

Lap 163/200: Caution #3 Steve Kinser gets into the fence after the three wide battle goes wrong in turn one. Jim Hurtbise and Michael Chandler were also involved but were able to drive away. Kinser's day is done.
