The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 26th stop of the 1984 season in Concord, North Carolina, the site of the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Miller Time 300.

With Waltrip out of contention, Phil Parsons would take over the lead. Right on his tail was Hendrick Motorsports driver Geoffrey Bodine and Bodine would take the lead but Parsons would make a power move with eleven laps to go to retake the lead and would be on defense for the remaining laps.
