Race #27 - Bobby Isaac Memorial 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 27th stop of the 1984 season in Hickory, North Carolina, the site of the Hickory Motor Speedway for the Bobby Isaac Memorial 200.
Points leader Sam Ard led the field to the Green Flag and much like Ard had done much of the season, Ard quickly began to pull away but this time Ard had a challenge as Larry Pearson and Jack Ingram were the cars on his tail, both passing him before swapping the lead themselves. Pearson would trigger the second caution and a few laps later he would pass Ingram to retake the lead. Once in the lead, Pearson would have to deal with a damaged car as well as lap traffic and defend the race lead as he did just that, completely dominating the race by leading all but 46 laps to score his first career win.

Race #28 - Komfort Koach 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 28th stop of the 1984 season in Rockingham, North Carolina, the site of the North Carolina Motor Speedway for the Komfort Koach 200.
Geoffrey Bodine led the field to the green flag but it was Bosco Lowe who would lead the first lap around the one mile track. Early in the race championship contenders would be involved in wrecks including leader Sam Ard while up front Lowe would dominate the first one hundred laps before Tommy Houston would take over, his hopes of a title hanging on by a thread as he would swap the lead with Ron Bouchard and Joe Thurman over the last ninety seven laps but it would be a late race caution that would determine who would win.
Joe Thurman would swap the lead with Ron Bouchard before Tommy Houston would take the lead late and appeared on his way to a win, but on his bumper was Bosco Lowe, who hadn't won a race in over a year, as Lowe would drive on by and would go on a score a dominating win by nearly ten seconds.
Meanwhile, crossing the start/finish line in 24th, Sam Ard locked up the 1984 NASCAR Busch Grand National Series Championship with one race remaining, but his celebration would be short lived as it was discovered that during an earlier crash in the day, he had suffered a dislocated shoulder and critical head injuries. Ard would be transported to a local hospital with doctor's saying the injuries would be too severe for him to compete in the season finale at Martinsville and his racing career over.
Other Noticeables: Bosco Lowe scored his 1st win of the year, Lowe led 2 times for 120 laps, including the final 19 laps, It was the 3rd win of his career in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series and his first since 1983 at South Boston; 56 races ago, Gene Coyle, who finished 13th, made his NASCAR Busch Grand National Series debut, Sam Ard, who finished 24th, clinched the 1984 NASCAR Busch Grand National Series Championship
