Back on June 6th I released this fictional carset for the BR MCLM mod; my take on the Nascar Southeast Series based in 1997 with series sponsorship from All Pro Auto Parts. Then I got an itch to assemble a schedule and run a season. Here is the table of drivers for the 1997 season: This series has four ASA drivers competing in a few races; Gary St. Amant, Kevin Cywinski, Bob Senneker, and Mike Eddy. Because of the ASA schedule and a rule put in place that these drivers can only compete in events in which the venue can hold a full field of cars, these guys are limited to four races but all have picked three. All four of these drivers ran the season opener at Walt Disney World Speedway and will run the All American 400 at Nashville. Gary. St Amant and Bob Senneker both ran the North Wilkesboro race while Kevin Cywinski and Mike Eddy will run Memphis. If you'd like to read a little backstory on each driver, you can do so here: www.simracingdesign.com/threads/thunder98s-showroom.62887/page-7#post-831823The points are real simple. 40 points to the winner and 1 point for 40th. 1 point for winning the pole, 1 point for leading a lap, and 5 points for leading the most laps. ASA drivers are ineligible to receive points. Here's the schedule: At the time of this being posted, 9 of 22 races have been completed. Race recaps will begin in post #2.

Race 1: Five Star Bodies 150 at Walt Disney World Speedway; Lake Buena Vista, Florida, January 24th, 1997. Just one week after the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series opened their season at this one mile oval, the All Pro Southeast Series arrived to share the track with the Indy Racing League. In an attempt to boost ratings with this event being broadcasted on ESPN2, entry fees were waived and all 40 cars came to the track, including our four guests from the ASA. Gary St. Amant was the best-starting ASA driver, starting 3rd. Kevin Cywinski started 4th. Mike Eddy started 5th. Bob Senneker started 6th. The caution flew seven times for 28 laps. Race 6: Duragloss 250 at Martinsville Speedway; Martinsville, Virginia, April 19th, 1997. This weekend was shared with the Nascar Featherlite Modified Tour while the Busch cars were in Nashville and Cup had an off weekend. Rob Snyder would show up to the track, qualify his car in 8th, and start the race to earn credit for the start while getting out under caution. The relief driver was Ryan Fisher, driver of the #30 car. Fisher's mechanical woes meant he was running part-time this season and wasn't returning to the track until Volusia in July. To combat the attrition rate after the North Wilkesboro race, Nascar slowed these cars down quite a bit as Neil Charles sat on the pole. The caution waved ten times for 48 laps. Caution 1 - Lap 6: Keith Norton (#00) gets into Adam Coleman in turns one and two, collecting John Kendrick (#57). -Rob Snyder would come to pit road to perform his driver change with Ryan Fisher.Caution 2 - Lap 12: Sammy Moore (#6) is spun by Roger Fowler going into turn three. Caution 3 - Lap 48: John Kendrick is spun by Greg Partridge (#25) coming out of turn two. Caution 4 - Lap 68: Kurt Collins and Tim Foster, Jr. get together in turn four. Caution 5 - Lap 121: Blake Roosevelt's car comes to a stop past the pit exit on the frontstraight. -This would serve as the halftime caution.
Caution 6 - Lap 126: Debris in turn three. Caution 7 - Lap 138: Robby Anderson gets turned by Jimbo Bailey coming out of turn four. Caution 8 - Lap 206: Zach O'Malley (#40) overcorrects his car coming out of turn two, hits Gary Campbell's car, and spins up the track into Scotty Hayes. Caution 9 - Lap 214: Clyde Houston overcorrects his car coming out of turn four and turns Jimbo Bailey into the outside wall, collecting Becky Conway. Caution 10 - Lap 246: Race leader Trent Blanchard spins Zach O'Malley going into turn three. The race would end under caution but because the race leader caused the final caution to end the race under yellow, Trent Blanchard was penalized for the accident. Blanchard was stripped of his bonus points and docked 15 points while being placed as the last car on the lead lap in 7th. The win would end up going to rookie Blaine Freeman in car #19. So instead of leaving Martinsville second in the points by only two to Roger Fowler, Blanchard was 7th in points, 19 points back. Busch Pole Award: Neil Charles (#17) (22.038 seconds / 85.924 mph) Safety Kleen Front Runner (Most Laps Led): Chad Moon (#98) (120 of 250 laps) Gatorade Hard Charger (Most Positions Gained): Sammy Moore (#6) (+17, Started 19th, Finished 2nd) STP Hot Lap (Best Lap Time): Roger Fowler (#99) (22.330 seconds / 84.801 mph) Raybestos Rookie of the Race: Blaine Freeman (#19) (Finished 1st) Five Star Moment of the Race: Trent Blanchard's penalty Race 6 Results.html (32.56 KB) Race 6 Points.htm (25.61 KB)
