The main changes are: - Rusty Wallace: from the Raymond Beatle #27 car to the #2 Penske car. Team Penske joins NASCAR after his last race in 1980 always with Wallace at the wheel.
- Rick Wilson: from RahMoc Enterprises car #75 to Stavola Brothers car #8, driven by Bobby Hillin Jr the previous year
- Darrell Waltrip: the #17 leaves Hendrick Motorsports team and forms his own team with Western Auto as primary sponsor
- Bobby Hillin Jr: he takes the #20 ride for Dick Moroso team. Rob Moroso step back in the Busch series
- Dale Jarrett: after a good year in the Busch series, Jarret comes back in the Cup Series with the #21 Ford for Wood Brothers team.
- Neil Bonnet: during the off season he announced his retirement as a full time driver. He will start his career as TV commentator
- Sterling Marlin: he joins in the new #22 car for Junior Johnson team from Hagan Enterprises #94 team
- Terry Labonte: after a disappointing year with the #1 car for Richard Jackson, Labonte joins in the #94 team for Hagan Enterprises
- Rick Mast: he is the new driver in the #1 car for Richard Jackson
- Bobby Hamilton (#75-Mark Smith), Ted Musgrave (#55- D.K. Ulrich) are the only two full time rookie of the year contender
I use the real rosters as you can see, so not many changes for this year

Yeah, the only real changes are Rob Moroso is still alive and Neil Bonnett is done racing...but not by career-ending injury.
