Welcome to the 2007 NASCAR Season. Since this is a Fantasy League, all the drivers and some of the teams are made up. No one owns any team, it's just something I decided to do by coming up with random names for drivers and wanting to create storylines throughout the season/years. Since no one knows anything about any of these teams or drivers, I will show my excel sheet containing every driver, their stats, season standings from 2000-2006, and the silly seasons/rosters for the 2007 Grand National Series (Tier 2 Division), 2007 Truck Series, and the ARCA series. I will only be updating the 2007 Cup races in this thread. Here is the Roster for the top division: * = ROTY Contender 2007 Roster Hendrick Motorsports 5 - Alex Parker (2001 Series Champion) 24 - Hannah Tanner 25 - Clint Johnson 48 - Kyle Rudd (2002, 2005, 2006 Series Champion) 84 - Nate Beasley Joe Gibbs Racing 11 - Chris England 19 - Luis Suarez 20 - Peter Hale Team Penske 12 - Dale Stremme Jr. 22 - Jeb Warson Chad Little Inc. 1 - Steve Perry 6 - Anna Kelley* 88 - Chad Little Jr. Chip Ganassi Racing 39 - Scott Gaines (Road Courses) 40 - Katie Durhamm 41 - Megan Murphy 42 - Marco Montoya Richard Childress Racing 2 - Andy Houston 3 - Stephanie Dillon 27 - Kevin Grant 31 - Alice Peters TriStar-Evernham Motorsports 7 - Sarah Cooper 9 - Landon Kaiser 10 - James Davidson 98 - Carson Atkins* Furniture Row Racing 78 - Chris Burton (2004 Series Champion) JTG Daughtey Racing 47 - Grant Dolson Staglo Brothers Racing 30 - Austin Bell Front Row Racing 34 - Ross Evertson 38 - Erin Keller 36 - Mark Donaque (PT) Richard Petty Enterprises 43 - Zoe Sharp Paroday Racing 4 - Rachel Bowyer 72 - Lindsay Simmons GoFAS Racing 32 - Landon Amick Allison Coyne Racing 16 - Nick Rodriguez 60 - Allison Coyne* Stienhausser Racing 55 - Brian Silvia 87 - Josh Berry Lincoln Racing 56 - Ward Zimmerman (PT)* 56 - Travis Ruttman (PT) 56 - Zander Nunez (PT)* 56 - Sean Laggasse (PT) Brewco Motorsports 37 - Nicole Sadler Majeski Motorsports 23 - Denny Jennings 83 - Ty Majeski Parkins Racing 49 - (Alexis Spears?) "Luis Suarez"
Jeez, what happened in his career to take him to NASCAR?
Also, it seems your excel link does not work, as I cannot access it

Oh yeah, sorry I didn't change the settings - link should work now!
I don't have my notes on me, but I believe Suarez raced in the Pinty's Series for a few seasons prior before joining the series. Originally I wanted to create an F1 alternate universe alongside the NASCAR one where Suarez would actually go, but that fell through so I just decided to throw him in here.

Clash at Daytona
Summary: The first non-points paying event of the year. Chris England was last years clash winner. News: Clint Johnson moves over from the #2 to the #25. This will be his first race for Hendrick Motorsports. David Green won a pole last season in the #25 and is eligible, but since Clint Johnson is running the #25, David Green secured a ride with Frankie Parkins Racing’s #74 in a one-off attempt. He does not plan to run any more races with the #74, and Frankie Parkins will be attempt to qualify the car for the Daytona 500. Race #: 0/36 Distance: 20 Laps Pole Sitter: Sarah Cooper - Team: TriStar-Evernham Motorsports Lap 1: Sarah Cooper and Clint Johnson in the front row lead the field down to the first turn. Lap 3: The field is looking competitive today, Alice Peters (#31), Kevin Grant (#27), Kyle Rudd (#48), and Sarah Cooper have all taken turns up at the front of the pack. Lap 11: Halfway through the race and the mid-pack is fighting hard. However, Chad Little Jr. in the #88 took the lead on Lap 3 and hasn't looked back since, leading unchallenged by any other driver. Little is very strong on the plate tracks, 7 of his 12 career wins have come at Daytona or Talladega. Lap 13: The first caution flag comes out - Chris England (#11), turns Sarah Cooper, sliding her up into Peter Hale (#20). The two of them hit the wall hard, and collect Alex Parker (#5), who suffers minor damage. Peter Hale pulls it into the pits, he appears to be done. Chad Little Jr. pulls away from the pack on a late race restart to take his 2nd Clash win. He is followed by Jeb Warson, Alice Peters, Chris England, and Clint Johnson rounding out the top 5. Daytona 500: Late News and Stats
Joe Gibbs Racing to field the #81 with Caitlyn Smith behind the wheel for one off at Daytona. Smith replaced Kyle Kristoff in the #81 last season and ran 16 races for JGR. She also runs for the team in the Grand National Series (2nd Tier Series).
Mark Donaque will run at Daytona in the #36 for Front Row Racing.
Small Team News: Ricky Benton and Ron Hornaday Inc. announce late entry. The team only qualified for 2 races last season, so it'll be an accomplishment to make the 500. Lincoln Racing, however, will be making their first attempt at a race with Truck Series driver, Travis Ruttman. Brewco Motorsports has made a few starts a year in the cup series for a while now, but this will be the first full-time season they will attempt. Their driver, Nicole Sadler, is not eligible for rookie of the year due to the 11 races she ran last season when replacing an injured Katie Durhamm for Chip Ganassi. Ty Majeski buys out BK Racing to form Majeski Motorsports. SGR Racing is running low on money. They need to make the 500 in order to make it to some of the next races.
Anna Kelley will be making her debut in the series. Mark Donaque and Travis Ruttman may or may not make their first career start if they make the field.
Favorites: In the last 7 Daytona 500's, we've had 6 different winners, with Alex Parker being the only one to win multiple times (2001 and 2005). Chad Little Jr. has multiple wins at Daytona and will likely be a factor. Chris England and Dale Stremme Jr. are both strong restrictor plate drivers to bet on. Chad Little Jr.'s teammate, Steve Perry won at Talladega last year and ran well on the superspeedways. Stephanie Dillon is a dark horse pick to win, as despite only having two career wins, both have come at Daytona.
Go or Go-Homers include: #4 - Rachel Bowyer (#26's Owner's Points from last year, not inside top-35 in standings though) #14 - Ricky Benton #23 - Denny Jennings #36 - Mark Donaque #37 - Nicole Sadler (Brewco - New team) #55 - Brian Silvia (Silvia finished 35th in points, #55 finished 36th in owner's points) #56 - Travis Ruttman (Lincoln - New team) #57 - Daisy Green #74 - Frankie Parkins #83 - Ty Majeski #87 - Josh Berry #89 - Sierra Green #98 - Carson Atkins
7 spots are open for these drivers, 35 are locked in (Top 35 in owner's points). Rookie Carson Atkins, unfortunately will have to qualify in to the first 5 races seeing as though his team could not secure another teams owner's points from last year. There are no Daytona Duels this season due to some complicated logistics. Therefore, drivers will be raced in based on qualifying time. Seeing as this is the first race of the year, there is a lot of news - more than usual. As the season progresses, each ' Race Preview' so to speak will be generally much shorter than this one.

2007 Daytona 500OverviewRace #: 1/36 Distance: 40 Laps Polesitter: Kyle Rudd - Team: Hendrick Motorsports DNQs:#14 - Ricky Benton #23 - Denny Jennings #56 - Travis Ruttman #57 - Daisy Green #83 - Ty Majeski #89 - Sierra Green Lap 0: The 8th Annual Daytona 500 is getting underway. Kyle Rudd and 2004 Rookie of the Year, Landon Kaiser (#9) are on the front row. Hannah Tanner (#24) and Rookie Anna Kelley (#6) are in the second row. 42 drivers make their way to the Green Flag. Lap 2: Kyle Rudd leads the opening lap, the pack beginning to form up, 2 and 3 wide behind. Lap 8: CRASH! Sarah Cooper's disastrous Speedweeks continues, she's turned into the middle of the pack, collecting Jeb Warson (#22), Caitlyn Smith (#81), with Allison Coyne (#60) and Mark Donaque (#36) also recieving some damage. But there's more carnage taking place further up in the pack! Lap 8, Crash Cont.: Kaitlyn Sauter (#21) gets spun by Lindsay Simmons (#72) trying to avoid the wreck, causing Nate Beasley (#84), Erin Keller (#38), and Austin Bell (#30) to get minimal amounts of damage. But even ahead of them more cars are tangling. Lap 8, Crash(Final Part): Cars that initially went down low to avoid the first wreck with Sarah Cooper come up the track, Carson Atkins and James Davidson (#10), teammates, collide into each other and collecting the already wounded car of Austin Bell. Rachel Bowyer (#4) and Frankie Parkins (#74) both ARCA brake into the crash and suffer damage as well. All in all, roughly 13-14 drivers are involved with some amount of damage. About half will find their way to the garage area while the rest will try to limp around the track for the remaining laps. Lap 12: The field comes in for pit stops, Stephanie Dillon (#3) wins the race off of pit road and assumes the lead as the Green Flag is out. Lap 25: Several lapped cars have split the main pack. The top 5 are displayed here with Hannah Tanner leading this group. 29 drivers are still on the lead lap, with the majority in a pack about two seconds and a half seconds back of the top 5. Lap 28: Caution Flag is out - Allison Coyne's hood decides it's an airplane and flies off into the distance. Debris in turn three. Lap 32: Green Flag is back out! Hannah Tanner leads Chad Little Jr., Stephanie Dillon, Katie Durhamm (#40), and Clint Johnson. It's worth noting that this top 5 has been constant for this whole second stint of the race. Lap 36: Caution! Peter Hale barrel rolls down the banking, and 6 cars go spinning and sliding down to the apron of Turn #4 from the front pack! Caution flag is out, the race is over. Lap 40: Checkered Flag is in the air. Hannah Tanner comes across the line to score her 9th career win, and becomes the first female driver to win the Daytona 500. Chad Little Inc. drivers Chad Little Jr. and Steve Perry come home 2nd and 4th, while Alex Parker finishes 3rd. Ross Evertson scores his first career top-5 here at Daytona as well with a 5th place effort. Results: Thanks for tuning in. Next event: Richmond.

2007 Virginia 400Late News: Peter Hale is cleared to race here at Richmond after a violent flip in the 500 last week. He qualified 27th. Speaking of qualifying, several drivers also stand out. Alex Parker, another Richmond winner qualified 26th. Chris England qualified 35th in the #11, a huge surprise. Landon Kaiser was 6th in practice, but qualified 33rd. On the flip side, Landon Amick scores GoFAS Racing's first ever top 10 qualifying effort - 8th. Grant Dolson also qualifies a stellar 3rd for JTG. Favorites: Alex Parker and Peter Hale combine for 7 wins at the track. However, to win, they will have to pick their way through most of the field as they start 26th and 27th respectively. Kyle Rudd on pole is always a strong candidate to win anywhere. Clint Johnson, starting 4th has also won here before, and is a solid candidate. Dale Stremme Jr. and Luis Suarez are past winners to keep an eye on. Dark horse pick for this week is Grant Dolson (#47). JTG and Dolson have always been fast at the short tracks. Dolson fancies this race as a potential candidate for his first career win. DNQs: 56 - Zander Nunez 75 - Alexis Spears (SGR Racing - Withdrawn) 87 - Josh Berry 89 - Sierra Green Overview Race #: 2/36 Distance: 80 Laps Polesitter: Kyle Rudd - Team: Hendrick Motorsports Lap 1: Green Flag is out! Kyle Rudd and Katie Durhamm lead the field down into turn 1! Lap 4: Dolson passes Katie Durhamm for 2nd and is right behind Rudd. However, Rudd is just able to hold him off. Lap 5: Rachel Bowyer (#4) loses power and coasts to pitroad. The #4 re-enters 2 laps down. Lap 15: Landon Kaiser is on the move, has jumped from 33rd to 21st in 15 laps. Lap 22: Alex Parker has picked up 9 spots to 17th. Chris England has picked up 7 spots to 28th. In other news, Landon Amick in the #32 has dropped from 8th to 21st. Meanwhile, at the front, Rudd and Dolson are joined by Clint Johnson and Dale Stremme Jr. (#12). The top 4 are within a second of each other. Lap 29: Ross Evertson blows a tire from 8th position and brings out the first caution. Lap 35: Green flag is back out - Rudd continues to lead. Big checkup in the back of the field, and now a dozen lead lap cars are within seconds of the leader. No one has any major damage though. Lap 36: Landon Kaiser has now picked up 23 spots to 12th, passing Kevin Grant for 12th. Alex Parker and Chris England have jumped to 14th and 15th. Lap 40: Last weeks winner, Hannah Tanner is slowly working her way into contention - passing Alice Peters in the #31 for 5th. Meanwhile Dale Stremme Jr. has passed Dolson for 2nd. Lap 47: Luis Suarez (#19) passes Clint Johnson who has now dropped from 4th to 10th in the last 12 laps. Lap 55: A huge pack forming between 5th (Katie Durhamm) and 16th (Peter Hale) as the pack tries to navigate around a host of semi-competitive lapped cars. Lap 57: Caution, Chris England (#11) get tapped by his teammate Peter Hale, and both Joe Gibbs Racing drivers have minor damage. Both will be able to continue on. Lap 64: Green flag, Kyle Rudd leads teammate Hannah Tanner into turn 1. Grant Dolson and the two Penske drivers (Stremme Jr. and Jeb Warson, #22) round out the top 5. Lap 66: Cautions breed cautions. Ty Majeski in the #83 loses it out of turn 4 and hits his teammate, Denny Jennings (#23). Zoe Sharp (#43) also has minimal damage. Lap 67: Trouble while racing to the flag, Chris England is involved in his second incident of the day, turning Stephanie Dillon into the outside wall. Lap 74: Green Flag is back in the air! Rudd, Tanner, Dolson, Alice Peters, and Sarah Cooper are your top 5. Alex Parker has climbed to 7th from starting 26th. Lap 77: Rudd slowly pulling away - Luis Suarez passes Cooper for 5th. Lap 80: Off turn 4 for the final time, Kyle Rudd is going to score his 46th career victory, and his second win at Richmond International Speedway. Last weeks winner and his teammate, Hannah Tanner is second, followed by Dolson, Suarez, and Peters. Results: Thanks for tuning in. Points standings will be displayed below. Next race: Phoenix

2007 Tumbleweed 312Late News: Lincoln Racing will make the field for the first time this season. Luis Suarez failed pre-race inspection, and will start at the end of the grid. Carson Atkins qualifies 2nd here at Phoenix, the highest ever starting position for the rookie. Last weeks winner, Kyle Rudd struggled, qualifying 18th. Chris England's bad start to the year continues with a 22nd place starting position. Favorites: Kyle Rudd has 3 wins at Phoenix - pole-sitter Alex Parker and teammate Clint Johnson also have 2 wins apiece. They'll all be relatively fast. Dale Stremme Jr. has been fast at Daytona and Richmond this season, he also has a win at Phoenix. Alice Peters and Peter Hale qualified well, and each have won here. Dark horse pick for Phoenix is Carson Atkins. Atkins only has one career top 10, and it came at Phoenix last year. DNQs 83 - Ty Majeski 89 - Sierra Green Overview: Race #: 3/36 Distance: 63 Laps Polesitter: Alex Parker - Team: Hendrick Motorsports Lap 1: Green Flag in the air, Alex Parker leads the field down into turn 1. Lap 2: Nate Beasley (#84) down pit road to check for potential debris on grill. Emerges one lap down. Lap 10: Passing is proving to be tough today. Only a few positions have changed hands. However, Luis Suarez has picked up 11 spots, from 38th -> 27th. Lap 16: Hannah Tanner has also flown through the field. After starting 16th, she's now in 5th. Meanwhile Steve Perry started 8th and is now back in 21st, down one cylinder apparently. Lap 27: Top 4 are all within 1.2 seconds - Alex Parker, Carson Atkins, Peter Hale, and now Hannah Tanner Lap 30: Hannah Tanner uses a lapped car as a pick to pass Hale and Atkins. Alex Parker has pulled away and is catching up to a group of lapped cars. Lap 32: Caution. Alex Parker spins Zander Nunez in the 56. No damage to either car, but Parker is probably furious with the lapped car. Lap 37: Green flag, Alex Parker jumps out ahead of Hannah Tanner. Lap 38: And Nate Beasley in the #84 spins Zander Nunez into the wall! Teammate payback? No caution. Lap 39: Zander Nunez is not having a good day today. A third Hendrick car of Clint Johnson taps him and sends the #56 into a huge slide down the front stretch. No damage for the #56 this time, but not a day to remember for the backmarker team and new driver. Lap 39: In other words... Hannah Tanner passes Alex Parker for the lead of the race. Lap 51: Tanner is 1.3 seconds ahead of Alex Parker. Peter Hale and Jeb Warson (#22) are fighting for 3rd right behind Parker. Lap 55: Jeb Warson has been all over the back of Peter Hale and Alex Parker, but can't quite seem to make any passes on them. Lap 63: Hannah Tanner is known for having absolutely blinding starts to seasons. This year looks no different - Tanner navigates her way around lapped traffic to win at Phoenix. Alex Parker finishes 2nd. Jeb Warson just manages to pass Peter Hale, they cross the line 3rd and 4th, and Carson Atkins finishes 5th. In other news, this is Hannah Tanner's 10th career win. A relatively calm race at Phoenix, this will 'settle out' the standings so to speak. Results: Thanks for tuning in. Race #4 will be at Bristol. Standings will be displayed in the post below.

Points Standings After Race 3: PhoenixAnalysis: Hannah Tanner is out to an early lead, but as we saw last year an early lead isn't always an indicator of success - Tanner led the first three weeks last season, but stumbled to 12th by the time the Chase started. Alex Parker has also been consistent at the front. Chris England, after winning 7 races last season hasn't even scored a top 10 in this year. Alice Peters, Chris Burton, and Sarah Cooper round out the top 5 in points. Alice Peters failed to make the Chase last season, finishing 13th in points. She's starting out the season on the right side of the cutoff line (Top 12 make the chase, Top 10 in points + 2 Wildcard spots). Despite a flip at Daytona, Peter Hale is climbing back up the standings. Nate Beasley and James Davidson, however, have had no luck this season thus far - sitting 35th and 36th. Both were caught up in a wreck at Daytona and Davidson had bad strategy at Richmond, while Beasley had a debris problem in Phoenix. Two races before the Top 35 rule is set - and both Davidson and Beasley should hypothetically be much higher in points by the time race 6 (Las Vegas) rolls around. Grant Dolson is a surprise as well - 7th in points after three races and 2 top 10's is a solid start for a team that's been mired between 20th-22nd in points for the last few years. The ROTY battle is very one sided currently thanks to Atkins' 5th place at Phoenix. Anna Kelley, Allison Coyne and Zander Nunez are all experiencing growing pains with their respective teams.
