Race #1 - Goody's 300
The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series began it's second season the annual race at the Daytona International Speedway.
Darrell Waltrip led the field to the green flag but it was Tommy Ellis leading the first lap but Waltrip would retake the lead by Lap 3 as the field would race three wide for up to five rows which provided fans a real treat. However running that close would cause the "mini" big one on Lap 10.
Second place finisher in the points in 1982, Sam Ard would lead early as well as Tommy Ellis before a HUGE Big One happened on Lap 27, taking out 12 drivers inculding Dale Earnhardt and 1982 champion Jack Ingram. After the big one, drivers would hook back up and race a sprint to the line, the field would be broken up by lap traffic, leaving Sam Ard alone with Darrell Waltrip, who would swap the lead almost every lap with less then 10 to go, but Waltrip would pull of the racing winning move with four to go to score the win.
Other Noticeables: Darrell Waltrip won his 1st win of the year, Waltrip scored his 2nd career NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series win and his first since Charlotte 16 races, Waltrip led 12 times for 69 laps, including the final 4 laps, Neil Bonnett, who made his NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series debut, had a great race, leading late and holding on to a lead lap finish in 5th, Waltrip, who finished 1st, became the points leader, leading Sam Ard by 10 points

Race #2 - Eastern 150
The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series traveled up the east coast and made their second stop of the season in Richmond, Virginia, the site of the Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway for the second annual Eastern 150.
Tommy Houston led the field to the green flag and would led the event's first four laps before Pete Silva got around him. Meanwhile just like in 1982,Sam Ard and Jack Ingram continued their battle, always staying near each other during the course of the race.
After the event's two early cautions, Houston retook the lead from Silva as Silva's car was never the same, struggling for the rest of the race. With each caution, drivers had chances to try and get around Houston, but no one was able to. Geoffrey Bodine was the closest as he had passed Houston on Lap 116 but was spun by a lap car and fell back to 6th.
Unknown to Houston, when he slowed up he had allowed Rick Hanley to get his lap back. During the last 40 laps, Hanley worked his way through traffic and up the field, and with six to go he had taken second from Bodine as the lead dropped to only a one second lead before the 13th and final caution was called for Jeff Hensley's spin, ruining Hanley's chance and giving Houston the win under caution.

Race #3 - Coca-Cola 200
The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series traveled down the east coast and made their third stop of the season in Rockingham, North Carolina, the site of the North Carolina Motor Speedway for the second annual Coca-Cola 200.
Neil Bonnett led the field to the green flag on a cloudy day but it was Butch Lindley leading the first lap before being passed by Dale Earnhardt on Lap 2. Just four laps into the event the first caution would come out when Dale Jarrett spun in Turn 1. Earnhardt pulled away from the field after the green came back out but soon after another caution fell.
While the first three cautions were minor, the fourth and fifth were "big ones" and caused more then half the field to be eliminated and causing a red flag for 45 minutes for track clean up while Earnhardt would fade from the lead, complaining about a tight car. Meanwhile up front, Tommy Houston had found himself in first and he pulled away as well late in the race, but while leading on Lap 94, Houston's car smacked the wall in Turn 2, causing damage that would affect him several laps later as Phil Parsons took the lead.
With less then 40 to go, drivers fell out due to wrecks, including father and son Bobby and Davey Allison. When the tenth caution came out on Lap 108, Earnhardt came out of the pits fourth and said to his team"If this engine doesn't blow, we have a chance boys." Once the green came back out, Parsons and Houston battled while Earnhardt fought through lap traffic and soon found himself passing Parsons and pulling away. NASCAR Officials had announced the scheduled 200 lap race would be shortened to 148 due to the coming darkness and when a late caution came out on Lap 146, Earnhardt was in front and scored his first win of the year and the second year in a row at North Carolina.

Race #4 - Mello Yello 200
The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series didn't have to travel far to make their fourth stop of the season in Hickory, North Carolina, the site of the Hickory Speedway for the Mello Yello 200.
Tommy Ellis led the field to the green flag on a cloudy day in Hickory. Ellis would quickly began to pull away from the field, but no matter what he did, Sam Ard remained right on his bumper. The first caution would come out on Lap 10 and drivers quickly began to plan pit stops, when would it be good to pit and try and gain track position.
As crews tried to figure out when to pit, Ellis had a handle on the track, expanding his lead with each lap. Phil Parsons, who came into the race as the points leader, saw his day dashed just before halfway as he broke a Header and would retire from the race. Ellis made his pit stop and began once again to lap the field. After the field made their way to the final ten laps, a caution came out but it was far too late, Ellis had lapped the entire field and would win under the caution flag.
Other Noticeables: Tommy Ellis scored his 1st win of the year, Ellis scored his 4th career NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series win and his first since Bristol 10 races, Ellis led 1 time for 200 laps, including all 200 laps, Tommy Houston, who finished 6th, became the new points leader, leading Sam Ard by 31 points
