Race #22 - Kragen / Exide 151
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series made their 22nd stop of 1997 at the Sears Point Raceway, in Sonoma, California, for the Kragen / Exide 151.
Jimmy Hensley led the field to the green flag on a clear day in southern California but it would be Jay Sauter who would lead the first lap as the tricky road course turned out once again to be pure hell as drivers would slide off the track and into tire walls and a local caution would come out but only one "real" caution would fly early in the race. Once the green came back out, Joe Ruttman quickly raced his way into the lead and his lead began to grow each and every lap. Ruttman would dominate the day leading 51 out of a possible 60 laps and would score his second win on a road course in 1997 and his third win overall(on road courses) in his career.
Other Noticeables: Joe Ruttman won his 3rd race of the year, Ruttman led 2 times for 51 laps, including the final 39 laps, It was the 7th win of his career in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and his first since Heartland Park Topeka 8 races ago, Tony Toste(8th) and Joe Bean(9th) made their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debuts, Rich Bickle, who finished 11th, kept his points lead, leading Jack Sprague by 86 points

And Ruttman won this race in real life, too! Though he only led 4 laps in the real race as opposed to 51 here.

Same here, that's the first time I've seen a tie for the pole in NR2003. Though we should remember that stuff like this is possible in real life, too. Anyone remember Talladega Spring '07?
Also, neither driver involved in the tied pole here actually qualified for the pole in the real race. While Jay Sauter started 14th and Rick Carelli 21st. The pole went to Mike Bliss, who starts 19th here.
And JFTR frow, your man Rich Bickle started 2nd in the actual race.

Race #23 - Dodge California Truckstop 300
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series made their 23rd stop of 1997 at the Mesa Marin Raceway, in Bakersfield, California, for the Dodge California Truckstop 300.
Jay Sauter led the field to the green flag on a clear day as for the second week in a row the truck series was in southern California but this time however at the half-mile track at Mesa Marin as the championship battle is heating up with only four events left in the season as Sprague and Bickle continued their intense battle for the championship. Pole sitter Jay Sauter would channel his inner Dale Earnhardt as he drove the GM Goodwrench Service Chevrolet to a dominating performance, leading 181 of the possible 300 laps however after a round of late race pit stops Sauter would lose the lead to points leader Rich Bickle and it seemed like Bickle would score the win.
However a late caution with less then thirty laps to go would bunch up the field and allowed rookie of the year contender Kevin Harvick to use lap traffic and drove past the points leader and would hold off Sauter for the remaining laps and score his second career win in NASCAR.
Other Noticeables: Kevin Harvick won his 2nd race of the year, Harvick led 1 time for 22 laps, including the final 22 laps, It was the 2nd win of his career in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and his first since Louisville 11 races ago, Donny Ling Jr.(12th) and Milan Garrett(27th) made their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debuts, Rich Bickle, who finished 4th, kept his points lead, leading Jack Sprague by 104 points
