Lap 12: Burton finally makes a pass for position and is now 38th.
Lap 14: Mears to the lead, Burton to 37th.
Lap 15: Gordon reclaims the top spot and Burton turns a solid lap to move up 2 spots.
Lap 16: Newman cracks the top 10 for the first time today as Burton makes a big 3-wide pass and moves to 33rd.
Lap 19: Newman up to 8th, Burton to 32nd.

Lap 22: Burton up to 31st.
Lap 23: Bowyer has gotten the handle back on his Chevy and is up to 13th, as his teammate Burton finally gets back to where he started the night in 30th.
Lap 24: Bowyer to 11th, Burton to 29th.
Lap 26: Newman up to 6th.
Lap 27: Stewart gaining ground and moving up to 7th.

Lap 28: Travis Kvapil passes Mears for 2nd while Kyle Busch drops to 4th.
Lap 29: Bowyer cracks the top 10 and Burton moves to 28th.
Lap 30: Busch gets around Mears for 3rd.
Lap 35: Burton to 27th.
Lap 39: Busch and Mears pass Kvapil and now run 2nd and 3rd. Gordon continues to lead.

Lap 41: Mears gets loose and loses 2 spots to Kvapil and Johnson. The Blue Deuce is now in 5th.
Lap 43: Newman cracks the top 5 by getting around his Penske teammate.
Lap 44: Stewart motors past Mears for 6th.
Lap 47: Burton up to 26th now. Slowly but steadily gaining ground.
Lap 49: Kvapil passes Busch for 2nd as Burton cracks the top 25.

Lap 50: Bowyer up to 8th, Burton up to 24th.
Lap 51: Johnson passes Kyle Busch for 3rd. No love from his Hendrick teammates for Kyle Busch. After all, he is a lame duck.
Lap 52: Newman passes Busch for 4th as Mears passes Stewart for 6th. Good lap for Penske Racing.
Lap 53: Stewart regains 6th from Mears.
Lap 54: And now Stewart takes 5th away from Kyle Busch. The top 9 are all separated by a second and a half. Great racing so far today. Distant from it all though is incoming points leader Jeff Burton. He is currently in 23rd position after starting 30th and falling all the way back to 39th at one point.

Lap 55: Mears to 6th past Kyle Busch as Newman takes 3rd from Johnson.
Lap 62: Mears passes Kyle Busch and Smoke and gets back to the top 5. Stewart all the way from 5th to 7th that lap.
Lap 63: Mears past Johnson for 4th.
Lap 64: Green flag pit stops beginning. Unsurprisingly, Jeff Burton is the first to come down to have service done to his terribly-handling Chevy. Joining Burton are Ganassi teammates Reed Sorenson and Jamie McMurray.
Lap 65: Pitting this time by are Mears, the Busch brothers, Bobby Hamilton Jr., Danny O'Quinn Jr., Matt Kenseth, Mike Bliss, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, and Derrike Cope.

Lap 66: Gordon relinquishes the lead to Johnson to get service on pit road. Following the #24 car are Kvapil, Stewart, Bowyer, Joe Nemechek, Bobby Labonte, Elliott Sadler, Dave Blaney, Ward Burton, Jason Leffler, Paul Menard, Stanton Barrett, Michael Waltrip, and Kasey Kahne.
Lap 67: J.J. Yeley gets 5 bonus points as Johnson ducks down pit road with Newman, Kevin Harvick, Brian Vickers, Johnny Sauter, Martin Truex Jr., Jeremy Mayfield, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Scott Riggs, and Robby Gordon.
Lap 68: Kyle Petty, in his final career race, leads a lap as he stays out while Yeley, Todd Kluever, Jon Wood, and Aric Almirola get 4 tires and fuel.
Lap 69: Petty pits.
Lap 70: Mears has re-cycled to the lead.

Lap 71: Following pit stops, let's look at where our contenders are at: Mears is 1st, Busch is 3rd, Bowyer 5th, Stewart in 7th, Newman in 9th, and Burton anchoring the group in 21st.
Lap 75: Kvapil gets the lead from Mears as Stewart gets 6th from Kurt Busch.
Lap 75: Bobby Hamilton Jr.'s engine has gone sour and he pulls his #34 Toyota behind the wall in his final race with Braun Edwards Racing. Always tough to say goodbye to your team while the race is still going on.
Lap 76: Gordon to 2nd and Busch to 3rd as Mears begins to drift backwards.
Lap 78: Newman to 8th and Kurt Busch to 9th.

Lap 83: Newman to 7th and Busch to 8th as Johnson gets very tight exiting turn 2 and loses 2 spots to 9th.
Lap 84: Mears has regained composure and is back to 2nd while Kyle Busch loses 3 spots in one lap. Bowyer is now 3rd, Gordon is 4th, and Stewart is 5th.
Lap 86: Stewart gains a spot and Newman passes Kyle Busch, who drops to 7th. Burton is now up to his highest position in 19th.
Lap 87: Kyle gets back around Newman for 6th.
Lap 88: Kyle re-enters the top 5 to Gordon's dismay while Hendrick teammate Johnson gets past Newman for 7th.

Lap 90: Burton loses a spot to Mike Bliss and is currently 20th.
Lap 92: Bowyer to 2nd, Kyle Busch to 3rd, and Mears to 4th. This trio of new title contenders is bringing it today. Burton has gained 2 spots, as he is up to 18th nwo.
Lap 94: Newman to 8th, Kurt Busch to 9th.
Lap 95: Newman past Stewart for 7th as Burton moves up to 17th.
Lap 96: Stewart passed by Kurt Busch for 8th.
