The incident started when Todd Kluever moved up the race track so he could avoid cars slowing for pit road, but Kluever doorslammed Carl Edwards into the wall. Edwards spun down the banking and collected Petty, Blaney, Biffle, Kahne, Cope, Riggs, and Yeley.

Lap 256: 12 to go on the season. Burton retakes 10th but he is going to need Newman to lose a few spots before the checkered flag.
Lap 258: Shuffling of spots up front. Gordon gives 2nd away to Kyle Busch as Newman takes 4th away from Stewart. As of right now, Newman would win by 9 points over Burton.
Lap 260: Newman picks up another spot as Gordon is now fading. Stewart also passes Gordon, who is reportedly trying to save gas now.
Lap 263: 5 to go, Newman just a half second behind leader Clint Bowyer and hungry to get the title in style. Meanwhile, Burton is 10th but about 7 seconds behind Bowyer and a full 3 seconds from Earnhardt Jr. in 9th. There's no chance of Burton picking up positions, so he needs Newman to falter late.
