A big thanks to form member frow78 for allowing me to use his 88, 89 and 90 CART cars he painted as a replacement to simulate this series. Yes I know they are the wrong schemes but I'd rather use these then blank cars.

Well, I sure didn't see this coming.
But anyway, Bobby Unser won the pole for the real race, while Rick Mears started 5th.

Race #1 - Arizona Republic Jimmy Bryan 150
The CART Series made their 1st stop of 1979 at the Phoenix International Raceway, in Avondale, Arizona, for the Arizona Republic Jimmy Bryan 150.
Rick Mears led the field to the green as he would write his name in the history books as the first lap leader in the series. A sellout crowd of 18,000 people were in attendance hoping to see history of a brand new racing series but the history they saw was not what they expected. Mears quickly was able to pull away from the field and by Lap 50 he had a ten second lead as drivers ran fast laps but was never able to stay within a second of Mears.
Even when a late caution came out with less then ten laps to go, no one had anything for Mears, as he would lead all 150 laps and scored a dominating win and writing his name in the history books as the first winner in the CART Series as well as sweeping a race(winning the pole, leading every single lap and winning).
Other Noticeables: Rick Mears scored his 1st win of the year, Mears led 1 time for 150 laps, including all 150 laps, All 21 drivers made their CART Series debuts, It was the 1st win of his career in the CART Series in his 1st start, Rick Mears, who finished 1st, is the points leader, leading Mike Mosley by 60 points

Race #2 - Gould Twin Dixie 125 #1
The CART Series made their 2nd stop of 1979 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, in Hampton, Georgia, for the Gould Twin Dixie 125 #1.
Johnny Rutherford led the field to the green but it would be Gordon Johncock who would lead the first six laps as unlike Phoenix, Atlanta provided the fans in attendance a great showing as Gordon Johncock and Tom Sneva would battle all race long, swapping the lead nine times over the 82 laps between the two of them. Not a single caution would fly for the first time in series history so that meant drivers had only one shot of making adjustments to try and catch the leaders. Gordon Johncock's team was able to have a fast pit stop and got their car out front of Sneva and appeared on their way to victory lane.
Tom Sneva however was able to use lap traffic and catch back up with ten laps to go, passing Gordon Johncock and going on to score his first ever win in the CART Series.
Other Noticeables: Tom Sneva scored his 1st win of the year, Sneva led 5 times for 50 laps, including the final 10 laps, It was the 1st win of his career in the CART Series in his 2nd start, Rick Mears, who finished 6th, kept his points lead, leading Gordon Johncock by 20 points

Race #3 - Gould Twin Dixie 125 #2
The CART Series made their 3rd stop of 1979 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, in Hampton, Georgia, for the Gould Twin Dixie 125 #2.
Tom Sneva led the field to the green just hours after he had won the first event at Atlanta and was looking to sweep both events, leading the first 7 laps as the fans in attendance were treated to yet another action packed race, as no cautions would fly, letting drivers race as hard as possible to gain every position they could. Phoenix winner Rick Mears would quickly pass Tom Sneva for the lead and after a brief battle, would begin to pull away just like he had done at Phoenix, where he had led all 150 laps.
With no cautions coming out drivers had one chance to fix their cars during pit stops, a battle that Tom Sneva won as he retook the lead before being passed by Al Unser but hot on his bumper was that #9 car of Rick Mears who quickly took back the lead and was able to hold off Johnny Rutherford for his second win of 1979.
Other Noticeables: Rick Mears scored his 2nd win of the year, Mears led 4 times for 62 laps, including the final 17 laps, It was the 2nd win of his career in the CART Series and his first since Phoenix; 2 races ago, Rick Mears, who finished 1st, kept his points lead, leading Gordon Johncock by 207 points
1.9-Rick Mears (62 laps led) 2.4-Johnny Rutherford (3 laps led) 3.2-Al Unser (6 laps led) 4.1-Tom Sneva (11 laps led) 5.12-Bobby Unser 6.25-Danny Ongais 7.11-Tom Bagley 8.20-Gordon Johncock 9.77-Salt Walther 10.34-Vern Schuppan 11.19-Spike Gehlhausen 12.21-Lee Kunzman 13.36-Mike Mosley 14.35-Larry Rice-1 lap 15.40-Wally Dallenbach-1 lap 16.69-Joe Saldana-1 lap 17.41-Bill Alsup-1 lap 18.10-Pancho Carter-7 laps
